Off-Topic: Pandan & Lemongrass Flower Water – Recipe

This is my current favourite summer drink: iced Pandan & Lemongrass infusion, inspired by a fantastic homemade beverage that I had at Vanilla Home Café in Silom Complex shopping center (Sala Daeng Skytrain station) in Bangkok this year. Not only does Vanilla Home Café do great food (see pic below!) but they also have a range of very tasty iced teas and flower waters. One of these was Pandan & Lemongrass Flower Water!

I was bowled over by the simplicity of it. I love pandan (pandanus amaryllifolius) and have been using in cooking and baking for years but it never occured to me to prepare it as an infusion. It’s very simple: Just cut several pandan leaves in little pieces, add a quarter stem of lemongrass, pour boiling hot water over it and let it stew until cold. Serve with ice cubes.
