A few days ago Gestalten gallery opened a new group exhibition: “The Art of Collage” will run until 5th January 2014 and features works by 31 international artists.
There are some great exhibits, I especially like Eva Eun-Sil Han‘s three-dimensional collages – like the picture of a screaming (or laughing, it is hard to tell) woman; Eun-Sil Han cut out the face of the women in a very slender spiral and pulled the spiral outwards, creating a surprising three-dimensional effect.
Jose Romussi takes old photographs and embroiders them with different coloured threads and Sergei Sviatchenko merges different b/w photographs of sparse, bleak forests. Luis Dourado‘s artworks look like illuminated book pages; he uses gold paper shapes and appliqués these on old (or artifically aged) sheets of paper – beautiful. The exhibition is free and open Monday to Sunday from 12 noon to 7pm (Tuesdays Gestalten is closed).
