Another visit to Les Gourmandises de Miyuko

A few days ago I was in Zurich – gorgeous winter weather, blue sky and lots of sunshine – and of course a visit to Les Gourmandises de Miyuko was at the top of my to-do-list! Miyuko is an fabulous little patisserie which is run by Swiss graphic designer-turned-confectioner Sara Hochuli.

Miyuko’s cake and desserts are designed around specific themes: previous collections included Les Rèves d’Obscurité, Usagi and Rockin’ Sugar. On my first visit to Miyuko in June 2015 (read my article here) I had sampled several creations from the “Rockin’ Sugar” collection which were simply divine!

The current collection is, yet again, spectacular: “The Land of Ice and Fire” is all about flavors and ingredients from Iceland! The line-up of cakes, petit fours, pralines and chocolates includes some amazingly inventive concoctions: a chocolate-matcha-sea buckthorn cake (Reykjavík Miyuko Torte), the Eyjafjallajökull cake with vanilla and sugared almond crème, a liquorice-sea salt cake (Halldóra Torte) and a matcha-white chocolate brownie with smoked almonds (delicious!!!).

There are pralines with matcha, sea buckthorn and amaranth, with liquorice and sea salt (Halldóra again – so good!) or smoky caramel and the collection also includes hand-poured chocolate bars with matcha, liquorice and lava salt, thyme; blueberries and birch salt……wow!

I think the pictures speak for themselves. And I can’t wait to see what Miyuko comes up with next!
