Friday, 7th December 2012, is the vernissage of “Prefix & Suffix”, an exhibition by Turkish artist Şakir Gökçebağ – looks really interesting, check out his work here: gallery website. I’ve never been to Tanas (www.tanasberlin.de), a non-commercial arts space which specialises in contemporary Turkish art. The vernissage starts at 6pm at Tanas, Heidestraße 50, 10557 Berlin.

A very interesting show of contemporary art from Azerbaidjan in the Galerie Berlin-Baku, Großgörschenstrasse, 10827 Berlin. Vernissage is tomorrow, 30th November, and the exhibition will run until 4th January 2013. And here is the globe-M article: Kultur-Botschaft.

Gestalten gallery (www.gestalten.com/space) in Berlin-Mitte is currently showing “Nostalgia”, a small exhibition of very early colour photographs by Russian photographer Michailowitch Prokudin-Gorski. In 1906 he travelled across Russia to systematically document the different regions, peoples and landscapes of Tsarist Russia; I love photography (especially early photography and travel photography) so I decided to make this my next globe-M article…..! I went to see some of the exhibitions of Chinesischer Herbst in the Kühlhaus yesterday (a really great location, by the way!) and stayed to watch a performance by the Beijing Young Dramatists Association – utterly riveting; they performed “Zen – Tea”, a modern dance interpretation of an old chinese tea poem. Here are some pics, if you’re in Berlin today or tomorrow, go and catch one of their performances, it is so worth it:

This week I’ll visit some of the photography exhibitions of Chinesischer Herbst, a cultural festival presenting contemporary Chinese art. I’ll be reporting for globe-M but I would have gone anyway – the programme sounds fascinating, photography, video art, performances, movies and concerts….check it out here (German only, sorry! www.kuehlhaus.de)! The festival takes place near U2 station Gleisdreieck.
I also want to attend the Anna von Schrottenberg concert and of course see the ‘fragrance exhibition’ which portrays the different scents associated with the city of Beijing – the curators are calling it an ‘air design installation’! Exciting!!!!

The Wye (www.thewye.de) is a very cool international arts house which opened on Skalitzer Strasse in Kreuzberg; if you’re in the neighbourhood go and check it out! I also suggest you visit Konzept 86, a great fashion store which is located on the ground floor of The Wye. It made a wonderful Mintel Cityscape this summer (Konzept 86). Yet another exhibition that I’ll be reporting on: starts 5th October in Rotes Rathaus right here in Mitte (exhibition link). globe-M (i.e.: me) will be there to hear Gloria Minguez from the Spanish embassy open the exhibition – we are currently doing a Spain-Special on globe-M.

Highly recommended: “The Echo – Although I Am Still Alive”, an exhibition by 17 young Japanese artists currently on at Bethanien museum in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. Part of the Echo project. An abolute must-see. More info on www.kunstraumkreuzberg.de or www.echo2012berlin.com
